A Message from Pastor Phil: Timeless Truths Through Timeless Hymns

This past Sunday, we began our June sermon series, HYMNS, and I could not be more excited about what God has in store for us during these next few weeks.

Throughout this series, we will be revisiting many of the beloved hymns that have shaped the faith and worship of generations of believers. While musical styles may change, the truths found in these songs remain as relevant and powerful today as ever.

This series also serves as a celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Redback Hymnal, a collection of songs that has played a significant role in the worship life of our church and countless congregations around the world. Many of these hymns have encouraged believers through seasons of joy, struggle, victory, and faithfulness.

One of the things I appreciate most about these songs is their ability to connect generations through a shared message of hope in Christ. Over the years, many Redback favorites have also been recorded and reimagined by a variety of artists, introducing these timeless lyrics to new audiences.

I would like to invite you to take a few moments to listen to some of my favorite Redback songs as performed by artists such as Alan Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Gordon Mote, Tim Hill, Dolly Parton, Don Henley, Mylon LeFevre, Selah, Whitney Houston, and many others.

Alma’s Closet Mission Project

Alma’s Closet is a tangible way to bless Church of God World Missions missionaries from around the world. Throughout the month of June, we are collecting new dresses, purses, and shoes (all items must have tags attached) to help provide encouragement and practical support to women serving in ministry across the globe.

Donations may be dropped off in the TMC lobby during the month of June. Thank you for partnering with us in this worthwhile missions project and helping make a difference in the lives of missionaries and their families.

At TMC Church, we believe ministry extends beyond our church walls and into the communities around us. We are excited to invite our church family to participate in a special TMC Frontlines Serve Opportunity as we partner with the Terra Running Co. Summer Sizzler 5K + 1 Mile Fun Run on Friday, June 26 at 7:00 PM.

This is a wonderful opportunity to represent Christ through simple acts of kindness and encouragement while connecting with our local community. Our TMC Frontlines team will serve at a water station along the race route, helping provide refreshments and creating a welcoming atmosphere for runners and families participating in the event.

Serving goes beyond handing out water. We want to create moments of encouragement through smiles, uplifting words, high fives, positive energy, and genuine connection with every participant we meet. Small acts of kindness can make a big impact.

As part of the volunteer team:

• Assist with preparing and distributing water to race participants

• Help create a welcoming and encouraging environment

• Cheer on runners and families throughout the event

• Serve alongside fellow TMC family members as we make a positive impact together

Volunteers should wear their TMC Apparel shirt so our team is easily recognizable while serving throughout the event.

Donuts with Dad at TMC Church

We are excited to announce that we are forming a TMC Men’s Softball Team and inviting men from our church to be part of this opportunity. This is a great way to connect with others, enjoy some friendly competition, and represent The Ministry Center in a local church league.

Games will take place on Monday nights at local fields, including Veterans Park and other nearby locations. Whether you have played before or are just looking to try something new, this is a welcoming and encouraging environment for all skill levels.

We are working quickly to build our team, and interest is needed right away. Randy Young is helping coordinate our TMC group, and we would love to hear from you if you are interested in playing or being part of the team in any way.

This May, we’re inviting our TMC family to once again come alongside CHOICES and support their annual community baby shower. This meaningful outreach helps stock their in-house store with essential items for new and expecting parents in our community.

We are currently collecting diaper donations (size 4 and up) as well as pull-ups. You can also give financially, and those funds will go directly toward purchasing diapers to meet ongoing needs.

Donations can be dropped off in the church lobby throughout the month of May.

Women’s Defense Class at TMC

We invite all women to join us for a special Women’s Defense Class designed to encourage, equip, and build confidence. This introductory session will focus on personal awareness, safety, and practical self defense techniques for everyday situations.

Led by Phil Duncan, this hands on class will provide a supportive and welcoming environment for women of all experience levels. Whether you are new or simply looking to grow in confidence and preparedness, this is a great opportunity to learn valuable skills.

We are excited to announce that Child Dedication Sunday will take place on April 19 at The Ministry Center. This special moment in the life of our church gives families the opportunity to thank God for the blessing of their child and publicly commit to raising them in the truth of God’s Word.

Child dedication is a celebration of the gift God has given through your baby and a recognition that God is the ultimate Father over every child. When parents dedicate their child, they express gratitude to God and make a promise to raise their child with biblical guidance, prayer, and faith.

During this time, our church family also joins together to pray over each child and support the parents as they lead their child in a Christ centered life. It is a beautiful reminder that the church walks alongside families in raising the next generation.

Child dedication is different from water baptism. Baptism is an ordinance of the Church and an outward expression of a personal decision to follow Jesus Christ. Child dedication focuses on the parents’ commitment to raise their child according to the teachings of Scripture.

Men’s Breakfast at TMC – Join Us April 11

The TMC Men’s Ministry is excited to invite all men to our upcoming Men’s Breakfast on Saturday, April 11 at 9:00 AM. This will be a great morning of food, fellowship, and encouragement as men from across our church gather together.

At The Ministry Center, we believe strong men help build strong families, strong churches, and strong communities. Our Men’s Breakfast provides a relaxed setting where men of all ages can connect, share life experiences, and encourage one another in their walk with God.

Whether you have been part of TMC for years or are newer to our church, this is a great opportunity to meet other men, build meaningful friendships, and enjoy a good breakfast together. Calling for Mowing Team Volunteers at TMC

The Ministry Center is blessed with a beautiful campus that serves our church family and the surrounding community every week. Maintaining the grounds is an important part of creating a welcoming environment for worship, ministry, and outreach. We are currently inviting volunteers to join our TMC Mowing Team and help care for the property God has entrusted to us.

Serving on the mowing team is a practical way to contribute to the life of our church. Volunteers help keep the lawns and outdoor areas looking clean, safe, and inviting for everyone who visits the campus. Whether you enjoy working outdoors or simply want to give back through service, this is a great opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

To ensure safety and proper care of our equipment and grounds, all mowing team volunteers must complete training and operational guidance from our maintenance team before serving. This training will cover equipment use, safety procedures, and scheduling so that everyone is prepared and confident when serving.

Once trained, volunteers will be placed on a rotating schedule that allows flexibility while ensuring the campus remains well maintained throughout the season.

If you would like to serve on the TMC Mowing Team or would like more information about the training process, please contact the church office or speak with a member of our maintenance team. We would love to have you be part of caring for the place where ministry happens every week.

Spring is almost here, and we are excited to invite you and your family to one of our favorite events of the year at The Ministry Center. Our annual Easter Eggstravaganza is happening on Saturday, March 28 at 10:00 AM at 2929 Hamill Road in Hixson, and it is completely free for the entire community.

This is more than just an egg hunt. It is a morning designed to bring families together and create lasting memories. We will have a massive Easter egg hunt organized so children of all ages can participate and enjoy the fun. In addition, families can enjoy inflatables, pony rides, an animal farm, games, giveaways, food, and more.

We encourage everyone to arrive a little early and bring a basket for collecting eggs. Everything is set up to provide a safe, welcoming, and exciting experience for kids and parents alike. Whether you attend TMC regularly or are visiting for the first time, you are invited and welcome.

There is no cost to attend. Simply invite a friend, bring your family, and join us for a fun-filled morning as we celebrate this Easter season together.

No Midweek Gathering – March 18 (Spring Break)

Please note that there will be no midweek gatherings at The Ministry Center on Wednesday, March 18 due to Spring Break.

We encourage everyone to enjoy this time with family, take time to rest, and spend a few moments in prayer and personal devotion during the week.

Spring Forward This Sunday. Join Us for Worship

This Sunday, March 8, we “spring forward” as daylight saving time begins. Be sure to set your clocks ahead one hour Saturday night so you do not miss worship.

There is something refreshing about this time of year. Longer days, new beginnings, and the reminder that God is always at work bringing new life and hope. It is a great time to gather together as a church family, worship, and start the new season focused on what God is doing among us.
